5 Extension Myths We Hear All the Time (And What's Actually True)

The Ramaya Hair Team

We hear the same handful of concerns from almost every first-time customer, so let's just clear them up.

"Extensions damage your natural hair"

Poorly fitted or badly maintained extensions can, yes. Properly sized clip-ins that you're not sleeping in, or professionally applied tape-ins that are maintained on schedule, don't damage healthy hair.

"They'll look obviously fake"

This usually comes down to two things: shade match and hair quality. Synthetic hair is where the "fake" look mostly comes from. 100% human hair, properly colour-matched, blends in a way synthetic simply can't.

"You can't style them like real hair"

You can straighten, curl, and even gently heat-style human hair extensions the same way you would your own, within reason. Synthetic extensions are the ones that melt or fry under heat tools.

"They're only for special occasions"

Most of our repeat customers wear a topper or volumizer as part of their everyday routine, not just for weddings. It's really a confidence thing more than an event thing.

"One size fits everyone"

Definitely not true, which is why we always recommend a fitting rather than guessing sizes online, especially for toppers and patches where scalp coverage varies a lot person to person.

If you've got a myth we didn't cover, message us on WhatsApp and we'll give you a straight answer.
