How Many Clips Do You Actually Need? A No-Guesswork Guide

The Ramaya Hair Team

This is one of the more practical questions we get, and the answer really comes down to your hair thickness and how much volume you're after, not just the length you want.

Fine or thin natural hair

Fewer clips, spaced more carefully, usually works better than a heavy set. Too many clips on thin hair can actually look bulky at the roots and pull uncomfortably. A single-set volumizer with well-placed clips is often plenty.

Medium thickness

Most of our customers in this range go with a standard clip-in set, evenly spaced from ear to ear. This is genuinely the most common choice we sell.

Thick or dense hair

You can handle a fuller set without it feeling heavy, and you'll actually want more coverage so the extensions don't get lost in your own hair's volume.

A tip most people don't think about

Where you part your hair matters as much as how many clips you use. If you switch your part side often, ask us about clip placement that stays hidden either way — it's a small adjustment that makes a big difference day to day.
